You might be asking yourself… why in the world are you mixing together house music and guided mediations? Isn’t the point of meditation to be calm and quiet?
Yes, that’s one way to meditate. Certainly!
But I define meditation as any activity that makes you feel. FEELINGS!! The point of meditation is to be introspective. It’s to feel what you feel by honing in on those emotions rather than allowing the storm of life distract you.
I don’t know about you, but I struggle with doing this via traditional meditation. I’m easily distracted, struggle to sit still and just can’t find “my groove.”
BUT there’s one thing that makes me FEEL and that’s music!
When I listen to the right music, nothing else matters and I find myself being incredibly introspective and vulnerable. When I listen to the right music, I feel energized but also peaceful. I feel myself move from my head to my heart.
That is why I combine dance music and guided meditations.
Dance music puts a smile on your face, feelings in your heart and energy in your step. Combine that with some simple thought provoking words and you have what I think is a super effective form of meditation.
The Meditation Mixtapes take what I’ve learned in doing my Apple Podcasts top 50 mindfulness podcast New Mindset, Who Dis and my passion for dance music to help you get out of your head and into your heart.
You can listen to all the episodes here. Enjoy!
